Come, Let's...

Learn a new word today! The word is....

"Overkill!"

Now before you close this link because you don't want to learn this violent word, I assure you, it's not! Although 'overkill' is used more often in games, but actually there are other places where this word can be used too!

To start off, 'overkill' basically means 'to do something excessively'.

In gaming terms, it's like your enemy is already dead, but you keep using your ultimate power, giving the enemy no peace even in death, thus overkill. That's when people say, "Overkill la wei!"

The word 'overkill' can also be used in education. For example, when a teacher asks a student where in the History Book does it state that Malaya was under British Colony, the student replies, "Chapter 4, Form 3 and Form 4 textbook, page 40 and 60 respectively, paragraphs 3 and 6, lines 4 and 16." Mind you, that's when the teacher says, "Overkill la wei!"

Well, if you're still not convinced, 'overkill' moments happen in the Bible as well. 2 Kings 9:32-37(NIV) says:

He looked up at the window and called out, "Who is on my side? Who?" Two or three eunuchs looked down at him. "Throw her down!" Jehu said. So they threw her down, and some of her blood spattered the wall and the horses as they trampled her underfoot.

Jehu went in and ate and drank. "Take care of that cursed woman," he said, "and bury her, for she was a king's daughter." But when they went out to bury her, they found nothing except her skull, her feet and her hands.

They went back and told Jehu, who said, "This is the word of the LORD that he spoke through his servant Elijah the Tishbite: On the plot of ground at Jezreel dogs will devour Jezebel's flesh. Jezebel's body will be like refuse on the ground in the plot at Jezreel, so that no one will be able to say, 'This is Jezebel.' "

Get my point? Now we know that 'overkill' is a universal term and does not necessarily mean violence!

Anyway, got one more example to help you understand this word better.

The dude who pumped petrol for my car 'overkill-ed' la wei!

I Learnt...

Some good phrases today. One of which was,

"People don't care how much you know(Bout God's love) until they know how much you care."

And also Unc. Rodney saying that trials and testing times are like tunnels.

"When you're in a tunnel, there doesn't seem to be a sunlight, but you do know the sun is there shining. Only after you reach the end of the tunnel do you see the sunlight and say, "Sunlight!""
The 'sunlight' part I ownself add wan.

"Likewise, when we're going through trials, God doesn't seem to be there to help us, but actually He is. Only at the end of our problems do we realise God was there all this while, helping us."

Awesome lots? Heck, I can even come up with good phrases.

"Faith is believing without sight. Even without the mirror, I believe I'm awesome-looking."

How I wish for the weekend to come faster. Now I have to focus 100% in school and that ain't so fun!

I'm Now...

An official MHS student! Finally I got to transfer to MHS, and finally I managed to change to the Arts stream. It's taken me a long time, but still so thankful for the transfer.

It's a little sad though to know that class ends at 3.00p.m everyday except Friday. My friend told me we were going back early for today because the teachers had a meeting. I was thinking probably 1.20p.m or something, and she told me it was 2.20p.m. I went like, "EH? GBS always finish at 2.00p.m woh!"

And recess is at 12.00p.m instead of 11.00a.m! My stomach was rumbling so much I thought WWE wrestlers were having Royal Rumble inside!

Aiyo, I seem to be complaining a lot. That ain't good! Anyway, I like the classes. Although Business started out a little blur for me, but in the end it was interesting. Economics was fun too. The graph thing and the logic. Oh the logic! Something Science seem to lack sometimes. Hopefully I'll continue to understand to continue to enjoy the classes, haha. All in all, just thankful. Whee!

Would like to thank those who prayed
for me and offered an ear to listen. Thanks!

It's Me Again!

I shall blog to maintain the policy of every month at least a post. That way I can at least get 12 posts per year. So if I continue this policy, I'll have 120 posts in 10 years! That is superly superbly superb!

Anyway, the transferring to arts stream is a little bothering. Currently, I'm in the Science stream and I want to go to the Arts stream. I sent in the application and of course, it got rejected (or I wouldn't be writing this). My mom and I went to appeal to the Bridge and the lady said the decision was final. My mom asked if there was any other way so that I could get to Arts, she said,

"See first your monthly results. If not very good only the group of panel will reconsider changing you."

If put in a more direct and blunt way,

"Boy, you fail first your science papers only we see whether you're suitable for Arts okay?"
Absolutely no offence to Arts students.

Didn't know what the phrase "Failure opens many future paths" meant until that day. According to the lady, the group of panel are super experienced in Form 6 and know each student. Biggie problem is they haven't even done an interview on those wanting to transfer! For the benefit of the doubt, probably they are some Yoda-like group who have the 'Force' with them and can foretell futures.

Fail Science you shall first, then succeed in Arts you shall.
